Behind the Scenes: Our first photo shoot
If you follow along on Instagram or Facebook, you might have seen a few photos of our dresses popping up. We thought we’d also share some shots from behind-the-scenes of the shoot. The dresses used in this shoot are referred to as Fit Samples. This means they are the correct pattern, fit, and material, but are not the final colors. The final fabric for production must be milled and dyed. This process takes about 35 days. Once the factory has the final fabric, they will create our Pre-production Samples. These will be the final samples made before the order goes into full production.
We chose to do a photo shoot using our fit samples because we are so excited to show the dresses to our future customers. And we hope you are excited, too! We think women will enjoy seeing the silhouettes and getting a sense for what the final garments will look like. The Day of the Shoot
The day started off overcast, but the clouds quickly burned off. We were able to capitalize on the natural light spilling into the space. Rachel King, our talented photographer, used the sun in addition to a spot to fill the photos with bright, natural light.
She was also a pro at controlling those pesky fly-aways. Here she is working her magic on the beautiful Irene Tuluca, our model for the day.
One of the best parts of preparing for the shoot was gathering accessories. It seemed only fitting to use brass-colored jewelry. We are loving the layered look of bangles with large watches lately. It combines the feminine with a touch of boldness. #thatsbrass
Katie is adjusting the dress in this photo, and probably removing some lint. It’s all in the details!
The gorgeous Irene in the tank maxi. We loved how simple this look was with her hair pulled up and a classic pendant necklace. The pockets make this dress elegant while still maintaining comfort.
After the indoor shots, we took everything outside. If Brass doesn’t take off, we’ll be starting a cafe in Katie’s courtyard. We’ll serve orzo salad and sangria.
We finished up the day by taking some photos in the South End. Many, many thanks go out to Rachel for her incredible photography and production skills, to Irene for her effortless and beautiful modeling, and to Mary (Katie’s sister) who kindly lent us her friend (Irene) and kept us laughing through the afternoon.
